After a 20-year hiatus, The Devil Wears Prada is finally back – and it’s already been causing quite a stir. From Meryl Streep and Anna Wintour’s instantly iconic Vogue cover story to the New York and London premieres this week, the buzz has been slowly building and now we can hardly wait for it hit cinemas on Friday May 1. In preparation for the big day next Friday, we have been exploring The Devil Wears Prada 2 filming locations, which this time to take us from sleek Manhattan high-rises to the timeless splendour of northern Italy. Whether you’re looking for genuine inspiration for your next holiday, or just want to escape for a couple of hours, The Devil Wears Prada 2 looks set to be a real treat. Of course, you will have to wait until next week to discover all the brilliant locations, but this round-up is sure to whet your appetite.
New York City
Home to Runway magazine HQ, and the film’s two main characters Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) and Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), New York City simply had to be one of The Devil Wears Prada 2 filming locations. So fans were ready and waiting when filming began in the Big Apple last year. ‘We needed police barriers and crowd control,’ Meryl Streep told Harper’s Bazaar last month. ‘Buses of fans turned up, and paparazzi swarmed and in one case kept jumping in front of the camera and the shot and got in a kerfuffle with crew! Annie kept her cool, but I was unnerved.’ They were spotted outside the famous McGraw-Hill Building, 1221 Avenue of the Americas, which we can only assume is once again serving as the Elias-Clarke Publications HQ (owner of Runway magazine) as it did in the original 2006 film.
Other NYC landmarks due to make an appearance are the American Museum of Natural History for a Met Gala-inspired event and the Waldorf Astoria for extra Gala scenes and various high fashion high jinks (the hotel has even created The Devil’s Martini to celebrate). There have also been sightings of Anne Hathaway filming in SoHo and in Brooklyn at the retro Long Island Bar in Cobble Hill, so there should be plenty of fun NYC location spotting to be done in the cinema.
Long Island
From Long Island Bar to real-life Long Island, where the crew was apparently spotted at an $8.3 million waterfront estate on Centre Island Road. Later, in the trailer, we then got a glimpse of a very swanky chef’s kitchen, which seems to confirm said mansion as a location. It could quite easily be a listing from Selling Long Island, if only Netflix had the foresight to set the next series there.
Newark, New Jersey
A film with plenty of jet-setting requires a decent airport, and it was Newark Liberty International Airport that was selected for this starring role (maybe as a stand-in for JFK, but we couldn’t say for sure). It has been confirmed that, for one day in September 2025, production headed to Newark to film the critical airport scenes, featuring lots of extras. And this is not the film’s only New Jersey connection, as Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna were all raised there. Anyway, all this talk of airports has got us very excited for the final filming locations in beautiful Italy.
Lake Como
While the first iteration of The Devil Wears Prada saw us joining the cast in Paris, the second film transports us to Italy: specifically, the most glamorous corners of the country. Though the reasons are still under wraps, we do know that the plot features a high-fashion European tour, and one of the most notable stops is Lake Como in the north of the county: a famously popular spot among the glitterati. In a clip from the trailer, we can see Andy and Emily arriving at the spectacular Villa Balbiano by boat. Perched on the edge of the lake and with Lombardy Prealps offering a dramatic backdrop, the 16th-century villa is believed to be at the epicentre of the Como scenes. The villa, which also appears in House of Gucci (we sense a fashion theme emerging), is available for holiday rentals and weddings, offering up to 30 guests a luxurious stay in one of six sprawling suites and several outhouses, as well as perfectly manicured gardens and wonderfully preserved 17th-century frescoes to enjoy.
Milan
Of course, Milan had to mean Milan Fashion Week – and they went big, filming at the real event and not on set. Much to everyone’s surprise, it was not the Prada show they chose but the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2026 on September 27, 2025, where Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci sat front row for the scenes (it was all rather meta, but in a good way). During the filming, many of the city’s main streets being taken over, as well as the most noteworthy shopping destinations. Among them, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (one of Italy’s oldest shopping arcades) appears in the film’s trailer, while filming is also believed to have taken place on via Filodrammatici, an historic street in the heart of the city just a stone’s throw from the tourist hotspot Piazza della Scala (which was also a filming location) and the celebrated opera house, Teatro alla Scala. It is reported that the five-star Palazzo Parigi hotel also served as a backdrop for some of the Milan scenes, as well as instantly-recognisable shops including the Tiffany & Co boutique on Via Monte Napoleone, one of Milan’s most well-known shopping streets.
